Cosmetic Squeeze Bottles Wholesale: Materials, Neck Finishes & Closures

A practical B2B guide to cosmetic squeeze bottles: PET/HDPE materials, 20/410 to 38/415 neck finishes, disc-top and flip-top closures, liners, sizing and MOQ for shampoo, lotion and body care.

When a formula needs to leave the bottle in the user's hand, a squeeze bottle is often the simplest, most reliable answer. From salon shampoo and body wash to hand soap, facial cleanser and sunscreen, rigid plastic squeeze bottles pair controlled dispensing with low cost and rugged shipping performance. This guide covers what US buyers should specify when sourcing squeeze bottles wholesale: materials, neck finishes, closures, liners, sizing and the supplier questions that protect your launch timeline.

Squeeze bottles vs. tubes

A squeeze bottle is a rigid-walled container you compress to dispense through a cap orifice; a tube is a flexible laminate or plastic body you collapse from the bottom up. The two solve different problems. Bottles suit higher-volume, everyday rinse-off and pump-style products and ship more economically at scale, while squeeze tubes excel at precise, single-hand application of creams and gels. If your product is a free-flowing liquid used in the shower or at a sink, a bottle is usually the better fit.

Material choices

  • PET and rPET / PCR PET. Clear, glass-like and lightweight. PET holds shape well and photographs cleanly, but is only moderately squeezable — fine for lotions and gels with a flip or disc cap. Post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET at 35–50% content is now widely stocked and is the default route for brands pursuing recycled content claims.
  • HDPE and LDPE. Opaque, soft and highly squeezable. These polyethylenes are the right call for thick cleansers, conditioners and products where a strong squeeze is part of the experience. LDPE squeezes easiest; thin-wall HDPE balances squeezability with rigidity.
  • PP. Chemical-resistant and a common choice for caps and liners rather than the bottle body, though PP bottles appear for heat-stable formulas.

All food-contact and cosmetic grades should be BPA-free. Vesspak supplies trade/wholesale packaging for cosmetics and personal care only — we do not supply food containers.

Size ladder (1 oz to 16 oz)

The most common retail sizes run 1 oz (30 ml) through 16 oz (500 ml). The 8 oz and 16 oz formats dominate shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap, while 2–4 oz bottles are popular for facial cleanser, travel and hotel amenities. Smaller travel-size containers (under 3.4 oz / 100 ml) follow TSA 3-1-1 limits for carry-on use.

Neck finishes: the spec that decides compatibility

Neck finish is written as diameter in millimeters plus a thread style — for example 24/410 means a 24 mm neck with a 410 thread. A cap only seals a bottle with the same finish, so locking this early prevents costly mismatches. Typical squeeze-bottle finishes:

  • 20/410 — travel and mini sizes (30–60 ml).
  • 24/410 and 24/415 — the workhorse range for 100–250 ml shampoo, body wash and lotion.
  • 28/410 and 28/415 — family sizes (300–500 ml) and liquid soap.
  • 32/415 and 38/400 / 38/410 — wide-mouth, high-volume or thick-product formats.

Because the neck finish is standardized (GPI/SPI), you can mix and match closures from different suppliers — a point worth raising when you evaluate a packaging supplier's checklist.

Closure options

The cap defines the user experience more than any other component:

  • Disc-top. Press one edge and the disc tilts open for controlled, one-hand dispensing. The default for shampoo, body wash and lotion.
  • Flip-top. A hinged lid lifts to expose the orifice; reinforced hinges on quality caps survive thousands of open-close cycles. Good for sunscreen and body care.
  • Push-pull. Pull the spout up to dispense, push down to close — common for sports and travel refill bottles.
  • Lotion pump or mist sprayer. When squeeze dispensing is not enough, pair the bottle with a lotion pump or fine-mist sprayer. Pump and sprayer mechanics are covered in our dispenser pump guide.

Liners and seals

The liner sitting inside the cap is what stops leaks in transit. Standard options are PE foam (general leak resistance), pressure-sensitive (induction-friendly, tamper-evident) and aluminum foil induction seals for a welded, tamper-evident closure. Match the liner chemistry to your formula — essential oils and high-alcohol products need liners rated for solvent contact.

Decoration and customization

Private-label brands typically decorate squeeze bottles with silk-screen print, hot-stamp foil, heat-transfer labels or direct UV print, plus Pantone-matched caps. Because bottles are rigid, they decorate more cleanly than tubes and hold fine detail at scale. For brands weighing refill and reuse, pair bottles with refill pouches or explore our refillable packaging guide.

Sustainability

PET (resin code #1) is the most widely accepted curbside-recycled plastic, and PCR PET now ships at price parity with virgin material at common 35–50% levels. Mono-material PET bottles with PET caps simplify end-of-life sorting. For the full regulatory and market picture, see our 2026 sustainable packaging trends roundup. Keep green claims specific and substantiated to stay within FTC Green Guides expectations.

MOQ, lead time and sampling

Factory minimums for custom-mold bottles commonly start around 5,000–10,000 units, with caps often lower. Vesspak stocks wholesale cosmetic packaging at a MOQ of 100 pieces, letting smaller brands and test launches buy assorted sizes without committing to full production runs. Sample lead times vary by color and finish; read our MOQ and lead-time explainer before you negotiate timelines.

Choosing a supplier

Ask for food-contact and BPA-free documentation, REACH/RoHS alignment where relevant, and proof of neck-finish compatibility with your chosen closures. Confirm leak-test and drop-test protocols, and verify the supplier can support the liner your formula needs. A structured supplier checklist keeps these points from slipping through during a busy launch.

FAQ

Are PET squeeze bottles actually squeezable?

Yes, but moderately. PET holds its shape and is ideal with a flip or disc cap; for a soft, high-compression feel choose LDPE or thin-wall HDPE instead.

What neck finish should I standardize on?

24/410 covers most 100–250 ml personal-care liquids and gives you the widest closure selection. Move to 28/410+ for 300 ml and above.

Can I mix caps from different suppliers?

As long as the neck finish (diameter and thread) matches, caps and bottles are interoperable across suppliers — that is the point of the GPI/SPI standard.

Vesspak is a trade and wholesale supplier of cosmetic and personal-care packaging, MOQ 100 pieces, serving US brands. We do not supply food containers.
